Garage floor coatings: Tips for Designing

Garage floor coatings can be set up over the most concrete garage floors, provided that they are aptly prepared.

A good garage floor system will be made up of a basic coverage, a base coat and a top coat. A basic coverage coat is essential to make sure a good quality bond. Apply the basic coverage with a roller as instructed by the manufacturer's directions and let it to dry out.

When the surface is dried up to the touch, you can apply the epoxy or urethane base coat. Put out the color flakes uniformly into the wet base. The flakes are applied lightly to give you an idea about the base color or to a great deal for increased coverage and toughness. Blow or sweep up slack flakes.

Scratch the floor by means of a metal floor scraper to make sure no paint chips are stuck up then blow the floor for a second time. After that seal up is done you can apply the last coat. Let the floor to dry up for an at least 48 hours before allowing foot passageway and up to five days for automobile traffic. Two sealer coats possibly will be required if a full broadcast is applied.
