Types of warehouse floors

Warehouse floors are manufactured so as to fulfill the demands of different types of industries. A good warehouse floor must withstand heavy traffic, and must be resistant to extreme and changing temperatures. The warehouse floor must have excellent wear resistance property, abrasion resistance property, impact absorption property and light reflection property. They must be essentially safe. They must be seamless and impervious. They must be easy for installation, and must be easy to clean and maintain. They must also be cost-efficient and durable.

There are different types of warehouse floors available to suit the need of different industries. Many types of warehouse floors are available in the market due to the introduction of modern flooring materials and techniques. Concrete Floors, Epoxy Floors and Synthetic Anti-Slip Floors are some of the types of warehouse floors. Most of the warehouse floors have either concrete coating or epoxy coating. Different types of warehouse floors offer different special benefits apart from certain basic common benefits.

Concrete coatings are one of the basic and oldest types of coatings for warehouse floors. Warehouse floors with concrete coating are very popular even today. Concrete Floors are very useful for factories and warehouses as they are very strong and highly durable. Concrete floors are also versatile and cost efficient. The protective sealant or paint provided on the concrete floors prevents the floor from pitting, oil/ chemical staining and damage due to wear and tear.

Epoxy floors are excellent for factories and warehouses that are subjected to harsh environments. Epoxy floors have maximum durability and best performance even in extreme temperature conditions. Epoxy floors consist of solvent-free epoxy base coat topped with polyurethane layer. This top layer gives UV rays resistance property to the floor if it is made of chemical-resistant aliphatic polyurethane. The top layer made of flat stippled finish epoxy layer gives low light reflectivity property to the floor. The top layer made of textured epoxy layer gives non-slip surface and imperfection hiding property to the floor. Epoxy floors have high impact resistance and chip/crack protection properties if it is made of semi-flexible epoxy coating.

Synthetic Anti-Slip Floors are excellent and safe for factories and warehouses. These floors are very safe as they have anti-slip grip. The floor has durable anti slip coating that helps in increasing the surface friction property of the floor and hence prevents slipperiness of the floor. They are highly durable and comfortable. They can support heavy weights. They have excellent chemical resistant property, stain resistant property, moisture resistant property, temperature resistant property, UV-resistant property, sound-absorbent property, echo reduction property and noise reduction property. Synthetic Anti-Slip Floors are made of tough polypropylene plastic. These floors can be easily installed and removed. They can be laid over any kind of substrate such as concrete, ceramic tiles, wood, or grass. Synthetic Anti-Slip Floors require little or no maintenance. They are easy to clean. You can just dry/wet vacuum or pressure wash the floor to maintain it.

Different types of industries expect different benefits from their warehouse floor. As already explained, varieties of warehouse floors with many choices of coatings are available to provide different benefits. Some of the benefits which people consider while choosing warehouse floor are esthetic appearance; cost efficiency; excellent durability and performance; stain resistance, high impact resistance, abrasion resistance, and temperature resistance properties; and ease of installation and maintenance. The warehouse floor with correct choice of coatings must be chosen so as to provide the needed benefit for the warehouse.
